How It Works
Instead of painfully flashing the device memory every time you need a new setup, nanoBridge leaves the hardware in its standard CC mode and acts as a middleman.
When you move a fader or press a button, the hardware sends its raw MIDI data. nanoBridge intercepts it, alters it based on your active preset, handles the LED feedback bidirectionally, and passes the processed data out through a virtual MIDI port directly into your DAW or host software.
- No firmware modifications required
- Extremely low-latency native macOS processing
Key Features
Edit & Play Modes
Switch instantly between mapping and performing. Play mode locks your configuration to prevent accidental clicks, unlocks on-screen continuous knob and fader gestures, and streams a live MIDI message log.
Floating Virtual Overlay
Float a semi-transparent device on top of your DAW without stealing keyboard focus. Control plugins directly from your screen even when your physical hardware is unplugged.
Zero-Latency MIDI Engine
Completely redesigned MIDI pipeline. Scrub multiple knobs and faders at the exact same moment with flawless tracking, instantaneous response, and no latency.
Configurable Control Ranges
Set custom minimum and maximum sweep limits for any fader or knob. Restrict a filter sweep from 20% to 80% or invert polarities with a single click.
Customizable Preset Colors
Build blank presets from scratch and personalize them with custom color palettes. The virtual hardware subtly tints with the active preset color, turning one controller into multiple distinct rigs.
Smart LED Sync & 8 Radio Groups
Bi-directional hardware LED feedback syncs seamlessly with your DAW and restores state across preset switches. Includes up to 8 exclusive radio groups (A-H) for instant part toggling.
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about nanoBridge, hardware setup, and licensing.
How is NanoBridge different from Korg’s free KONTROL Editor?
First and foremost, Korg’s official KONTROL Editor doesn’t even work on modern macOS versions. NanoBridge was born directly out of that frustration: as a Mac user, I found myself completely locked into whatever settings happened to be stuck inside my device, unable to change CC numbers or button modes unless I tracked down an old Windows computer just to flash simple settings.
Beyond compatibility, there is a fundamental difference in philosophy: Korg’s software is a static flashing utility that writes a single layout into the controller's internal memory. Every single tweak requires quitting your work and reflashing the hardware.
NanoBridge works completely differently. It is an active, real-time software bridge that runs natively on modern macOS alongside your DAW. Instead of touching or flashing the controller's internal firmware, it intercepts the raw hardware MIDI in real time, dynamically reshaping CCs, synchronizing LED feedback, and switching between unlimited presets on the fly with zero latency.
What workflow capabilities does NanoBridge add to the controller?
NanoBridge transforms the nanoKONTROL2 into an advanced multi-layer controller:
- • Instant Preset Switching: Seamlessly jump between unlimited presets (e.g., Preset A for Orchestral CCs, Preset B for Mixing, Preset C for Synths) with zero interruption.
- • Smart LED Management: Built-in support for internal toggles, DAW-controlled external LEDs, and exclusive Radio Groups (where selecting one button turns off all others, ideal for sample articulation switching).
- • Hands-Free Control: Connect a secondary device (like a USB foot pedal) to trigger preset changes while your hands stay on your keyboard.
- • Fast Batch Mapping: Map entire fader blocks or button rows with sequential CCs, channels, or inverted value curves in a single click.
Can I use NanoBridge even if I don’t have my nanoKONTROL2 with me?
Yes! With the latest version, NanoBridge features a full Virtual Device on your screen. You can interact with the faders, knobs, and buttons directly using your mouse or trackpad, transmitting the exact same MIDI CCs and commands to your DAW. This makes it easy to keep working on projects while traveling or away from your studio desk without needing the physical controller plugged in.
Which DAWs are supported, and how should I set up my MIDI ports?
NanoBridge works with any macOS audio software that supports MIDI, including Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Cubase, Studio One, Reaper, Pro Tools, and standalone instrument hosts.
What are the system requirements? Is it available for Windows or iPad?
NanoBridge is built exclusively for macOS and requires macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4) and Intel-based Macs. There are currently no versions available for Windows or iPadOS.
How does the license work, and on how many Macs can I install it?
NanoBridge is a one-time purchase with no subscriptions. A single license allows activation on up to 3 machines for your personal use (for instance, your studio desktop, a portable laptop, and a secondary studio setup). If you replace a computer, you can easily deactivate the license in the app settings to free up an activation.
Is there a free trial before I buy?
Yes. NanoBridge includes a 14-day free trial with full access to every feature. You can connect your gear, configure your presets, and test how it integrates into your real DAW projects before making a purchase.
I ran into an issue or need help. How can I reach you?
If you have a question, run into a technical issue, or want to suggest a feature, you can contact me directly by emailing support@uesound.com. You can also use the “Copy Diagnostic Data” button in the app’s About settings to include your setup details, making troubleshooting quick and easy.
Why did NanoBridge move from Patreon to a standalone license, and what if I already bought it there?
During the early beta phase, NanoBridge was distributed through Patreon. However, several users asked whether they needed to stay subscribed month after month just to receive updates. Having to pay another monthly tier later on just to download an update felt unfair to my supporters.
Graduating to Version 1.0 allowed me to establish a proper one-time license model and a 14-day free trial. Now, you simply buy it once, own it forever, and get seamless built-in updates.
Plus, Version 1.0 comes with crazy new features—most notably the new floating virtual device, meaning you don't even have to carry your physical nanoKONTROL2 with you anymore! You can simply use the on-screen virtual overlay to control your DAW when traveling.
If you already supported me and downloaded the beta on Patreon: You do not need to pay again! Check your Patreon inbox—I have sent a 100% OFF discount code to everyone who supported the beta so you can claim your official lifetime V1.0 license completely free as a thank you for your early backing.
Was AI used in the development of NanoBridge?
Yes, as an advanced coding assistant. I completely understand the music community's skepticism toward “vibe-coded” apps built by people who have never written a line of code, but that isn't what NanoBridge is.
I’ve been developing my own software, stage soundware, and custom MIDI hardware long before AI was publicly available. The real-time MIDI routing engine, CoreMIDI virtual endpoints, and LED synchronization mechanisms draw directly from years of stage and studio programming experience.
I don't use automated “vibe-coding” apps or generators. I use a disciplined custom workflow where every single line of code goes through me. AI serves as a co-pilot to accelerate development, while I manually design, review, test, and write the critical components myself. This ensures I have total control over the architecture—if a bug occurs, I know exactly where to look to fix it.
Ultimately, AI simply levels the playing field, empowering a solo indie developer to build sleek, robust utilities that used to require a dedicated corporate team. (I also used AI to help create the app icon and website artwork!)
